I wish Lowry well, and a speedy recovery. I sincerely hope this is not the end of his career, with or without the Giants. To get all the details, head over to the Giants Web site by following the link below.

Lowry Out for Season, Probably...
On Tuesday, May 19 Giants ace pitcher Noah Lowry under went surgery. Lowry, who has been out since the 2007 season had surgery to remove his left lower rib. Many say the surgery will end his season, and more than likely end his career with the Giants. What an unfortunate scenario for the young pitcher, who basically just started his career. Lowry showed great promise for his age, but has not been able to show it. In his 106 career games, Lowry had 100 starts, a 40-31 record and an ERA of 4.03.

Good or Bad? Getting Home Field Advantage for the World Series by Winning All Star Game
Since 2003, which ever league wins the All Star game gets home field advantage for the World Series. It's well known that home field advantage is more than just an advantage, it's more or less the deciding factor of who will win Game 7 of the World Series. The change has been long disputed between baseball enthusiasts. Some love it while others loathe it completely. Those who favor the change argue it makes the All Star game mean something, giving it a weighted value, inspiring the players to take the Mid-Summer Classic seriously. Those who oppose it see it 100 percent differently.
I personally think it's horrible. It completely takes all the fun out of the All Star festivities. Isn't the whole point of the All Star Break to give the players much needed rest? Why take away their "mini-holiday" which is supposed to be a chance for them to just have fun and just play ball? With such a huge wager on the line it diminishes the fun factor.
There has to be a better way to determine home field advantage for the World Series. Why not give it to the team with the best record? Applying the same theory of those who favor the change, this would make the teams work extra hard for the best record. Of course, the whole point of the season is to have the best record to get to the World Series, but adding an extra bonus, such as home field advantage, could potentially make the teams work harder for it. This way, if a team that made it to the World Series as a wild card would not get home field advantage. The way it's decide know, potentially does give the wild card home field advantage, if their league won the All Star Game.

Some of My Favorite Giants Commercials
OK, first off I love the ad campaigns the Giants did last season. I couldn't get enough of them. All of the commercials were hilarious, witty and entertaining. I'm sure the "What Would a Gamer Do?" scenarios made Kruk & Kuip proud. Just one thing...
I always wondered why they used Zito for this commercial and not another one? All anyone could talk about last season was Zito's $126 million contract making this commercial kind of a conflict of interest for him.. for obvious reasons that I need not explain... I personally got sick of hearing about it his contract and his lackluster performance. Yeah, he didn't have the best season, but everyone experiences a slump in their career at one point or another. I'm sure the media's blatant bashing of Zito didn't help him perform any better either. I could only imagine the level of anxiety that must have built-up each time he took the mound. I hope people rally behind and for Zito this season and not against him. After all, he's a Giant too!
Gotta love Rowand!

20th Anniversary of the 1989 Battle of the Bay Team
I had just sat down to watch the game with my dad, when my mom called. I got up to answer the phone and only moments later the solid, secure, stable ground beneath me was no longer still. I remember looking at the TV and seeing a split second of Candlestick Park rattling back-and-forth as if it were a small toy, before the cable connection was lost. That day, and the subsequent days that followed are still crystal clear in my mind. It's hard to believe that was almost 20 years ago.
Where were you?

What's in Store for the 2009 Giants?
Tuesday, April 7th marks a new beginning for the San Francisco Giants. Lincecum has a shiny new Cy-Young Award, Frandsen is back and healthy, the Big Unit will take the mound in black and orange, Taschner has a one-year contract, we still have two-out Bengie and Rowand is no longer a freshman Giant. But will all this be enough to be a winning season for the Giants? Lets hope! The Giants still have a long ways to go, but at least they're headed in the right direction. Too bad Bonds isn't slated to appear in the line-up....
